Weight Loss

So I've always been in decent shape, not like morbidly obese, but as I get older I've noticed that the intertube around my waist seems to be inflating. :-) I've never really had a reason to get in shape and really work it off because come on who are we kidding, nobody really likes working out. However, the past two years have really opened my eyes. I lost my remaining grandfather to cancer and I never knew my Mom's dad. After seeing how much Natalie loves being with her Papa(my dad) and knowing full well the pain of not having a grandpa anymore, I've decided that it's motivation enough to get in shape for my unborn grandchildren.
The other reason is I've always loved basketball and it's always been a special part of my life. I've worked very hard the last 3 years to officiate on the court somewhere in Oklahoma every night of the season. I accomplished that goal this year and I loved every night. The next step for me to take in officiating is to move up and start reffing college basketball. This is so exciting for me, however, I've been told on numerous occasions that I have the ability and style to be a great college official but in order to receive a college schedule I'll need to get in shape. I've got to lose about 30 pounds off my waist and put it into my shoulders and chest and arms. Not a bad goal, it's the journey I'm dreading.
Those are my motivations for this weight loss expedition and I'll cheerish all your comments along the way. Today is Sunday March 7th and over the weekend I bought a membership at the local Salvation Army weight facility and pool to work out. Tomorrow morning I'll be at the gym at around 6:30 and I'll begin my journey. Don't worry, I'll spare you the before pictures and if all goes well, then I might post an after picture!! :-) Thanks for following along!!
